Project Summary
Wave International (Wave) was engaged as a key member of the Owner’s Integrated Management Team, supporting Base Resources in the successful delivery of the Kwale Mineral Sands Project. Base Resources owns and operates the Kwale Mineral Sands mine in Kenya, which commenced production in late 2013.
A major challenge arose when performance issues demanded Wave’s intervention to ensure the timely delivery of the CP2 shiploader, a vital project component for transferring Ilmenite and Rutile from land to ship. The Kwale Operation features a high grade ore body with a high value mineral assemblage, rich in rutile. Kwale is designed to process ore to recover three separate products – ilmenite, rutile and zircon.
